Mark Baker - Fiddle, Vocals

Picture

Mark was classicallly trained in violin as a child studying under Enrico DiCecco of the NY Philharmonic.  Returning to the violin as an adult Mark studied at the Brattleboro Music Center and played in the Windham Orchestra for a season.  Mark now spends most of his time pursuing his interest in an eclectic mix of non-classical music from folk to jazz.

In addition, to playing with Bourbon Shuffle, Mark's musical interests include participating on the board of the Vermont Jazz Center and he regularly plays violin with its Latin Jazz Ensemble.

Sue Caviola - Banjo, Vocals, Band Manager

Picture

Sue comes from a musical family.  Her mother sang opera in New York and nearly all of her seven siblings are musicians.  She has played banjo for over twenty-five years and has participated in various local bands.  Sue attends and leads many jams in the Putney area.

For the last twenty five years, Sue has hosted an annual three day jam at her home attracting musicians from across the country to camp, eat, sing and play music.  Bourbon Shuffle owes its roots to this annual event.

Janet Goldstein - Double Bass, Vocals

Picture
Janet grew up playing piano and guitar but found the banjo about twenty years ago and never looked back.  She enjoys teaching old time/clawhammer banjo from her home in Putney.  Janet participates in many local jams in and around Windham county.  Over the years, Janet realized the bass was often the "missing instrument".  She rented a bass and fell in love with it immediately.  On either banjo or bass when she is not playing with Bourbon Shuffle, Janet can often be foudn sitting in with the All Comers Band at the Pierce's Hall Contra Dance in Putney.

Gene Kuch - Guitar, Vocals

Picture

Gene has played guitar for over fifty years.  Gene graduated from Concordia College with a degree in music.  He owned Blue Note Music, a music store on Main Street in Brattleboro for nineteen years.  Gene has played in many bands over the years including rock, country and folk groups.  He also builds and repairs guitars, woodwind, and brass instruments in a studio on his land in Townshend.

When not playing with Bourbon Shuffle Gene can be heard playing guitar with another local Brattleboro band Swinging Doors.
